I’ve been in a little of a creative rut lately, so looked through my papers and scraps to see if I could find any inspiration. Of course whatever I was making had to include gold… clearly I have an addiction^^ … but what else. I picked out the Pink Paislee C’est La Vie number 03 paper as it is well gorgeous and set to work with my acrylic paints, firstly giving the whole sheet a ‘tea stain’ effect.
From there I set about painting the roses with watered down acrylic paint … (you could also use watercolours if you wanted to try this, I just like acrylics ^^) .
Once the paint was dry I did add a thin layer of matte varnish (the DoCrafts brand that is sold alongside their acrylic paints) this got rid of the slight chalky texture of the paint and added a little protection for the embellishment. As a finishing touch I highlighted some of the details on the floral design with gold paint. This was definitely a labour of love, thank goodness for TiVo, needed a lot of saved up TV ^
Then it was just a case of layering up paper scraps, washi tape and die cut and embossed gold circles I made from gold card from the craft store to create the main body of the embellishments, with chipboard buttons (from My Mind’s Eye), machine stitching, puffy heart stickers (from Freckled Fawn) and some word stickers (from Crate Paper)
Slowly but surely I am wriggling my way out of my creative rut ^__^
Christmas will soon be here so time to start with some holiday crafting ^__^
I raided my stash for items to put these tags together… the wood veneers are new though, the snowflakes are table scatter from Paperchase and the trees are from the Range. The gold glitter tags are also from Paperchase and were in my stash from last year, but I’m sure they will will be stocking these gorgeous tags again ^__^
I love Christmas, it is my favourite time of the year… so it seems only right to make wrapping of gifts almost as lovely as the gift inside. I’m quite sentimental and love unique wrapping and quirky details, things I can keep and add into my memory keeping alongside christmas photographs ^__^
Got these beautiful acrylic ampersands today. Again I cannot fault the quality of product and service from Color Cast Designs… I love ampersands almost as much as the word ‘Hello’. These ampersands are two inches tall and quite thin so are perfect to include in project life as well as other scrapbooking projects.
Really enjoyed my little London trip… and enjoyed creating my project life pages following the trip. I’m leaning more on the embellished/scrapbooking style with my project life at the moment and quite enjoying it ^__^
I forgot to mention in the video that the background to the page with the ‘beautiful’ sticker on is actually a leaflet from VV Rouleaux showing how the make bows… I saw it in the store and grabbed an extra as I knew I had to include it in my project life somewhere ^__^
Note: this is my first youtube video… I hope its okay >.<
There was no way I could go to London without getting some Christmas tree decorations. I’ve decided to start a fresh with regards to decorations this year and put together a little collection of decorations in London as my starting point.
The little mushroom is from Sass & Belle in Covent Garden, the little bottle is from Selfridges. The cut acrylic circus style decoration is from the Harrods Christmas store in Covent Garden, it’s designed by Eleanor Stuart and is exclusive to Harrods…. and the cute little camel is from Camden Market and I added a string loop to it.
I can’t seem to go on any trip without getting some new paper. Of course I had to get the gold foil polka dot paper… it’s from Selfridges and it a lovely heavy weight handmade paper. The plus sign print paper is also from Selfridges, from Abigail Warner, who offers personalised gift wrap and cards.
The sakura blossom print paper is from Liberty… it caught my eye across the room. it is again a lovely quality handmade paper and is a beautiful quality design, screen printed and hand finished. I couldn’t say no ^__^
Just got back from a three day birthday trip to London. I adore the atmosphere of London… so inspiring.
Ordering online is all well and good, but finding beautiful treasures in person is so much fun and can take you down a creative avenue you hadn’t thought of ^__^
One place I have to go to whenever I’m in London is VV Rouleaux. It is a veritable sweetshop for the eye, with displays full of ribbons, trims and embellishments… it’s so easy to get lost in the amount of choice there is.
I have been playing with watercolours some more today and really like the style of the flowers… now to create pages with them ^__^
